85% Reservation Quota for Delhi Domicile Rejected for DU Admission 2014 : Delhi University

Really an awesome news for the Students other than Delhi Residence : On 16th March 2014 the Proposal for 85% Reservation to Delhi Domicile Students has been rejected by the University of Delhi.

Earlier this year, the Government of New Delhi has released out the Proposal for 85% of Reservation Quota for the New Delhi Students who are having the Residential of New Delhi for the DU Admission 2014 Onward. It was Mentioned in the Proposal that the Student of Delhi must be preference over the other state Student in the University of Delhi while it is a Central University.

The actual Proposal was for the 85% Reservation of Delhi Domicile Students in DU in all 12 Colleges of Delhi University which are wholly funded by the Government of Delhi and the other 16 colleges of Delhi University which are receiving 5% of Fund from the State Government. So finally the Central Government has rejected this proposal which is unfolded by a RTI Application which was filled by an ex-student of Delhi University, Abhishek Ranjan on 3rd March 2014.

The DU assistant registrar, in response to a letter by the Principal secretary R K Verma,department of IT, wrote: “I am directed to convey that the University of Delhi, being a central university, the proposal submitted by you for reservation of seats in admission in DU colleges for students passing XII from the schools in Delhi cannot be acceded to.”
