A Sneak Peek to Dyal Singh College

Being an outstation student and a very introvert person I used to have a serious dislike for Delhi and hence my college… I used to drag myself through the day with one thought in my head that this all would end in 3 years… But gradually I developed a strong connection for my college “Dyal Singh College”…
What’s to love about Dyal Singh:  Surrounded by lush green vegetation Dyal Singh College is a serene sanctum which is set in the posh locality of Lodhi road, South Delhi surrounded by eminent institutions.  Giving it company, on one side there is humayun tomb, Indian habitat centre, lodhi gardens and the other side it is within the vicinity of khan market and JLN stadium.  Also there are places like Connaught place, Delhi haat, lajpat nagar, south- ex which are easily accessible and are hangout spots for the students like us.
The college offers undergraduate courses in humanities, commerce and science and it also offers masters in English and mathematics. The college has an impressive and experienced faculty who tries to give their best to the students. DSC has an evening shift as well.  The well loaded library with over 90000 books, periodicals, journals and internet facility, seminar hall with over seating capacity of 150 students, well equipped laboratories are some among the many facilities which the college boasts about. The placement cell of Dyal Singh College is becoming a Dream house for the students as this year many reputed companies like Ernst Young, Zomato, IBM, Genpact, Royal Bank of Scotland etc visited the campus and took many shining DSC’ians. Apart from this, DSC organises many national and international seminars, career guidance talks, internships to encourage the students to enhance their skills and to show them the right paths.
Along with the academic performance Dyal Singh college realises the equal importance of imparting and encouraging extracurricular activities. It has many clubs and societies like: Glamorratti (fashion Society), Astitva (drama society), Debating Society, Music and Dance Society, Adventure and nature society, NSS, NCC.  The DSC’ians as well as students from other colleges are invited to the 3 day annual college fest “PRIYADARSHINI” in which students are seen battling out their talents.
Abuzz with activities there is never a monotonous moment at Dyal Singh. One can see students relaxing themselves sitting in the lawns and can hear mindless chatter and vibrant discussions. The amphitheatre, patio, foyer, staircase which have been christened “khopccha” by the students are some of the places where they steal a quick moment of mischief and of embarrassment when caught by lecturers for bunking classes. The college canteen is always packed out with students bonding over the delicacies making it their “favourite adda”… The Maggie point and the spicy momos serve as a hot spot for the students to take a quick bite and re-energise themselves when drained out from their boring lectures.
So, if the word “north campus” is not enough to allure you then the colleges of “south campus” can be your runway as there are some emerging colleges like DYAL SINGH COLLEGE which can take you to a journey of EXCELLENCE!!!!!

You have written well. I’m also from Dyal Singh College. I do believe that DSC is one of the best colleges in South Campus. I would like to add one thing. We also have a society for the students of Northeastern states called The Eastern Echoes. And in the college fest PRIYADARSHINI we showed a part of our culture through our dance and traditional dress show. We were really grateful for getting the opportunity.
